Today was a national holiday so options were limited. We started out the morning with breakfast at the hotel. We then walked to
Villa Borghese gardens, which is a park to the north of Rome. There was a zoo and
an art museum but you had to have tickets in advance. We roamed around the natural space and saw lots of dogs running free (with their owners nearby). There was a small tram that was 3 euro each that took us around the park. During our ride, we saw a great vista that we knew we would have to find again - beautiful view of the city. The tram was was all in Italian so I helped Susan and Sierra out with translations. I cannot confirm nor deny the accuracy of my translation.

Taking the tour on the tram |
After the tram ride, we walked around the park and saw a giant horse statue and then ventured to find lunch. This was our most difficult meal not just for Susan who has celiac but there were 2 servers and about 40 tables. During lunch, Susan and Sierra thought it would be fun to feed the birds. I suggested that we might get pooped on. They continued anyways.

Exploring the park |
After lunch, we rented a quad bike. I was driver - Susan also thought she was a driver but had no actual control. We rode all over the park and even made it back to the vista view. During one of the portions of the trip, we were going fast and hit a bump and the chain came off one side of the bike. We pulled off and I fixed the chain with Sierra driving and Susan pushing. When we returned the bike, we told the guys the chain came off and that we fixed it... they said Bravo!

We were now hot and sweaty so we went to rest on some benches. During our rest, what do you think happens... Sierra and I get pooped on by a bird. Probably the same one they were feeding! Thank goodness for the water fountains all over Rome. We were able to wash off.
We walked back to hotel to relax and get cleaned up. Then, we decided to go back to the place from the night before for wine and apps. We considered going somewhere different for actual dinner but opted instead to have 2 bottles of wine and a bunch of small plates. We even had the same waitress as the night before. Let's say we had a great dinner and were ready for a good night sleep.

Fun night out (no I wasn't smothering Susan... I was trying to cure her hiccups!) |
